Description
The NXP TJA1042T/3 is a high-speed CAN transceiver providing an interface between a CAN protocol controller and the physical two-wire CAN bus. It is designed for 12V and 24V automotive and industrial applications. This variant is designed for 5V microcontroller operation and does not include a VIO pin.
This device is fully ISO 11898-2:2016 compliant and supports data rates up to 1 Mbit/s. It does not support CAN FD. It features a low-current Standby mode with bus wake-up capability and local wake-up support. The transceiver offers excellent electromagnetic compatibility, characterized for IEC 62228-3 and SAE J2962-2 standards. The CAN bus pins are protected to ±8 kV Human Body Model and ±6 kV IEC 61000-4-2.
Safety and diagnostic features include undervoltage detection on VCC, thermal shutdown protection, TXD Dominant Time-out function, bus-dominant time-out in Standby mode, and passive behavior when unpowered. The device handles DC faults up to ±58 V on the bus and is protected against automotive transients. It is AEC-Q100 qualified and operates over the automotive temperature range of -40°C to +125°C.
Target applications include Automotive Body Control Modules, Gateway and Central ECU Applications, In-Vehicle Networking, and Industrial Control Systems. The device is RoHS-compliant and halogen-free.
