Board Assembly Instructions

The Bill Of Materials (BoM) is available for download. Please follow the recommended assembly sequence for best results:

  1. Start with Passive Components
    • Solder all resistors and capacitors first (e.g., R1, R2, C1, C2).
    • This ensures a flat surface for easy placement and avoids obstruction by taller components.
  2. Install Small Semiconductors and LEDs
    • Mount diodes (D1, D2) and LEDs (POWER indicator and others).
    • Pay attention to polarity markings on the PCB.
  3. Place the Voltage Regulator and Power Components
    • Solder the TO-220 regulator (U1) and associated connectors for power input.
    • Ensure proper alignment for heat dissipation.
  4. Mount the PLCC Socket
    • Install the PLCC socket for the Xilinx CPLD (XC9500 series).
    • Verify orientation using the notch and pin 1 marking.
  5. Add Headers and Connectors
    • Solder the JTAG header and other pin headers for programming and I/O.
    • Include the power header (+5V, GND) and any additional connectors.
  6. Install Remaining Components
    • Push buttons (PB1–PB4) and any optional components on the prototyping area.
    • Double-check alignment and solder joints.
